Update 11-19-20
Good afternoon Wilson Creekers.
On the heel of closing our school, we want to keep you informed on what is happening on our campus and what your family should consider during this closure. With a heavy heart, we closed our school until November 30th, but this is to ensure the safety of our staff, students and our community. With the increasing COVID-19 numbers sweeping thought our county, we are doing our best to keep safety at the top of our priority list. With a staff member testing positive, these are the steps we are implementing throughout building:
1.) We closed our school as we do not have enough substitute
teachers available to keep the school open.
2.) With this closure, we are taking the time to do a deep clean of
our buildings and classrooms.
3.) We will be personally calling any student that had close
contact with this staff member, and have already sent home
letters with helpful procedures.
4.) We are releasing the GCHD letter, as we did last week, to give
everyone additional information to make the best and
informed decision for their family and student(s).
After further investigation, we are pleased to find that this staff member followed our COVID protocols. Once being alerted to a possible exposure, and while in the building maintained and followed the 6ft social distancing standard and had worn an approved facemask when working with students.
As we head into the holidays, we would ask that you be as vigilant as possible. Remember that COIVD-19 is easily transmittable and even though we’re saddened that we may not get to have our normal Thanksgiving gatherings; we are all doing our best to help stop the spread of COVID-19. When school returns on November 30th, please ask yourself the following questions:
1.) Have we come in contact with a COVID positive individual?
2.) Does my family or my student have the following symptoms?
a.) Fever (100.4°F) or chills
b.) Cough
c.) Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
d.) Unusual fatigue
e.) Muscle or body aches
f.) Headache
g.) Recent loss of taste or smell
h.) Sore throat
i.) Congestion or runny nose
j.) Nausea or vomiting
k.) Diarrhea
If you are able to answer “NO” to the above questions, school will resume on the 30th starting with our 9-12th grade rotation and all K-5th grade students. If you are unable to answer “NO”, please call or email the office and have your student continue remote learning. Upon receiving this information, the district will then reach out with further instructions.
We would like to lend our sympathy to anyone struggling with COIVD-19, and know that we wish anyone who is unfortunate to come down with this virus, you have our best wishes and healthy vibes headed your way.
